hello, last few days i have been noticing a rear buzzing or humming sound that is coming from the rear area under the gas tank..thats where it seems to be the most noticeable..it does not seem to be coming from the differential but rather up by the gas tank..no fume odors...sounds almost like there is a seal leaking somewhere....car is running great though down in the baja... |

If the buzz goes away, the car won't run. The buzz is the fuel pump. It's normal. |

Axel, why does the Fuel pump sometimes buzz at start-up and shut-down, but not at other times? Mine was making a fairly loud buzzing a few weeks ago. I have since changed the fuel filter and it has been silent. Is the buzz any sign of a fuel pump about to go south? Mark |

the pump only pumps when the line presure drops below a preset level. when you start up it runs to bring the system up to that level. brrrrrrr..br...br..br..up to pressure as you idle br......br.......br........br this is the same on pretty much all vehicles with the pump in the fuel tank. when a pump starts to make more noise or run more often. it can be a sign of leaks, crawl around and look for wet stained areas around the fuel line. the day to day dirt under a truck will show a coffee stain like ring around fuel leaks. |
