Allright, I am about to hit 80,000 miles on my 1996 XD and I was wondering what maintainance I should do? I know the owners manual is a good thing to refer to here but I want to know what else I should look at or take care of in the preventative sense. I have only owned the truck for 6 months so I am not sure when the last time the plugs, wires, fluids(other than oil) or anything has been changed?? How hard is it to change all of the fluids?? What kind of plug wires/plugs? Sorry for all of the questions at once but they are all in my mind right now. Thanks in advance |

Good idea to change all the tuneup items. Should only take a couple hundred bucks, but you may also want to do a coolant flush and get that old brake fluid out too... The only fluid that's really hard to change is the tranny fluid. It's really not that hard in itself, but the filter should be changed if you don't know when it was changed last, and that's a royal pain. I use Magnecor wires as do many others. They are very high quality and from all reports, last a long time. I have used common Champion plugs, Champion truck plugs, and now Bosch copper plugs and they all work fine. Some others are using NGK with good results although some claim issues with the NGK. What kind of oil are you running? -P |

I am running the Valvoline Syntech oil. Not sure if it is good or bad but decided to try it last oil change I did. What do you suggest I use? Where is the best place to get the plug wires from and how much are they? Thanks Perrone! |

I emailed Magnacor but received no response. Do you have to buy directly through them?? And what kind of oil should I be running? |
