Sounds like the resistor has failed. On classics it is under the decker panel, aft of the bonnet, forward of windscreen. On Disco, I'm not aware of location. It 'steps down and wastes' amperage, from the direct amperage(full speed) down to the various intermediate speeds. When it fails, no intermediates. Others on this site will know the Disco location. Hope that's it. cheers, doug |

Agree with Doug that its the resistor thats gone. I had this on a Renault a couple of years back. It also stopped the A/C working for some reason. As to location, the Haynes manual suggests if you fully opn the glove box lid by releasing the hinge springs, you will be able to access the resistor on the side of the blower housing. This is for RHD and may be different if you have LHD Martin |

Apparently there's differing locations for the resistor: Otto has his resistor inside of the fan-housing, and I really doubt anyone could possibly reach that one without removing dash (really sorry about that...). That heaterbox is produced december 1989 - according to Haynes others will have it on the outside of the heaterbox, which will be much more convenient. Resistor will be on the LH of the heaterbox (as seen in vehicles direction), must be high up close to the recirculating solenoid. Roverly Yours, Frode |
