I have a problem I hope someone can shed some light on:

On my 99 Series I, at the end of failed hillclimbs, the engine has a tendency to stall out after the wheels lose traction, the engine revs up a bit, and I let off the gas.

I can tell you that this is both scary and dangerous, as the lack of power assist on the foot brakes renders them virtually useless. On steep slippery hills, I am then forced to use the handbrake to save myself from a dangerous slide-back situation.

Any ideas?

Its a natural thing to happen,
depending on the angle, the fuel delivery has to overcome the gravity, and at steep grades it cant; so it stalls. There is a brief section in the manual about it, mainly it says what to do it it happens, bust out the manual and take a look.

Rob,

I was having stalling problems too. You might try your steppor motor. Take it out and clean it up with carb cleaner. In my case though it was my mass air flow. The plastic hose was loose and was leting in too much air causing a stall at every incline. Once I figured this out and tightened it down properly I do not have any stalling issues. I thinkg I will fall over backwards before the truck will stall. Good luck, it is probably a simple problem.

Thanks guys. I'll try the stepper motor and mass air flow hose.
