Hi all, I need help as to what is the correct tail light setup on my '96 Disco. When my tail lights are switchrd on I only get illumination on the lights that are located on my rear bumper. When applying brakes, my rear quarter panel lights come on. My quarter panel lens is made up of an upper and lower red lens with a clear reverse lens in the middle. I have checked the light fitting from within the vehicle and notice another bulb plugged in on the lower lens. When travelling, I notice other Discos with different lighting combos, some have the top and bottom Quarter panel light lit, othere have them lit and also when braking. What is the correct setup please?

It varies from year to year, and also from country to country. As long as you have tail, brake and backup lights on both sides, and your directional signals work, I wouldn't worry about it.

Not gonna be able to answer completely but, here's what I found on my '96: I've got 3 bulbs in each of the 2 upper rear clusters. Top, middle, bottom. The lens has 4 sections that are, from top to bottom, red-amber-white-red. In the bumper, I've got 1 bulb in each of the 2 assemblies. Also have a high, center mounted brake light in the window. When lights are switched on, the top bulb in the upper rear clusters and the bumper bulbs all illuminate. When I step on the brake pedal, the top bulb in the upper rear clusters get brighter along with the center mounted light. I think the bottom light in each of the rear clusters are supposed to be illuminated when the lights are switched on too, but believe mine to be burned out ! Sorry for the less than definitive response.

on the 96 the lower red lights would be the rear fog lights activated by the switch(same cluster as rear defog) when the headlights are on

How dopey. I always thought that switch was for optional fog lights, which I didn't get on my Stripped Down version. Sure enough, bottom lights came on. Thanks Nick !
