Anyone have a "stop leak" for the little annoying drip off the tip of the oil filter? I thought about riggin up some type of filter tampon to soak it all up....

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY RR. I FIND THAT IF I ALLOW ALL OIL TO DRAIN FROM THE FILTER TAP AREA (DRAIN UNTIL IT STOPS DRIPPING)I USUALLY DO NOT GET THAT ANNOYING DRIP YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

i think that oil drip probably comes from a long list of possible leaks and, since the filter is down low, the oil tends to gather there, and then drip off the end.

Your front seal is probably leaking, like my 95 Disco. Just top it off when and if it needs it and smile. I guess the job is EXPENSIVE. Cheers

Is it possible that there's a tiny hole in your filter?

Also, how tight did you screw your filter on? It should be hand tight plus maybe a quarter turn with a filter wrench. If it's on too tight the rubber seal may be distorted and leak.

I hand tightened the oil filter and when I noticed the little drip I put a wrench on the filter and gave it a little tug tighter...

You probably have sight checked the oil filter housing. If unsure I would recommend a power wash (taking care of the oil pressure warning swith wire, first remove it) and watch closely for a few days.
I always have a little drop on the filter after fitting a new one. this dropped onto the filter top face when I manouvred the filter in place. Always a little a rag does not catch and then follows gravity. But you appear to have a leak.
Unless the oil does not come from upper filter housing parts then the sealing face on the housing the filter is screwed to could have a burr. tightening the filter any more wouldn´t always help then.
cheers,
Anton
