'Looks' like an easy install. Any thoughts, experiences with these air horns would be appreciated.

unless you want to seem like BJ McKay then i say don't deal with them. i installed one once. they just take up room in the engine and annoy most people. just an overall PITA.

just my $.01

When I bought my Rangie it had a set of air horns on it that never worked really well so I replaced them with a new set (Fila, I think) and I was still never very happy with them. Part of my problem may have been available power (I have since replaced a bad battery) but they were never much good for a quick "toot", were not very load when compaired to a good conventional horn and did not work well in the cold. From my experience you would be better off with a quality set of Hella (or the like) horns.

I have a set of Hella Horns on my Series 3 109. It was a fairly easy install (since it was a Series). The horns are fairly powerful and people can notice you. The only thing that bothers me is that it sounds like the horns off of the old WW2 jeeps. Although, that sound effect works good with the 109 :).

The horns can fit into a tight spot. Be prepared to do your own wiring, since it doesn't come with a wiring harness. The horn set comes with a relay, so you can run power from your main soleniod (like I did). But make sure you put in a fuse. Also, it is a good project if you are just learning how to play with electricity (like me :)).

Just my .02 and experience.

Alex,

go to your local junk yard, and pull the set of horns off a 74-79 Caddy. nice sound, loud and pleasant. some of them have three horns.

I prefer the horns on a diesel locamotive myself. But it might give the blue haired grandma's a heartattack.

Why not get one of those horns from J. C. Witney that plays 101 melodies or tunes? ;)

Just another idea... If you like the "toot-toot" sound of the air horns, try a pair of horns off of a Porsche 911. They look like air horns and sound like them, but they're electric. They make a nice sound, and have the quick response that electric horns do.

B.J McKay...

Holy Shit that's Funny! I thought I was the only one who remembered that show!

And his best friend, Bear.

What were we thinking? Wasn't that show popular around the same time as the Dukes Boys? Did we all aspire to be truck drivers and rednecks? I know I did!

Best of all, I don't pay property tax...

I made my dream come true, a disco out in front of a double wide! With a rebel flag painted on the hood.

Daddy always said me and my sister was the best.
