Awhile back someone posted pics mounting the hi-lift to the top of the brush bar (I think it was an ARB). Does anyone know how I can modify my bumper to do the same? Is this an ideal location for the jack? Or are there better mounting points? If so, can you also post a recommendation on how those mounts are created? Thanks! |

Ideally, if I could safely make it work, that's where I would like to mount mine. Right now, all I have is brushbar (no HD bumper yet :-( ). When I brought my Hi-Lift Jack mount dilemma up to him, my "yoda" put this idea in my head, and I like it ... out of the way of mud, etc., and still within easy reach. I'm wondering if it would involve some welding for mounts ... ??? (Also, in *my* case, I've got to be sure I'm not going to get too much vibration, loosening brushbar and possible rotation ...???) I think the pic was posted by John Lee from his web site and if so that was my Disco. The newer non air bag ARB's have antenna/light mounts welded on that allowed me do this. The spacing does not allow for a perfect fit and you will need to fab a bracket. I have seen older ARB bars just drilled through and long bolts used. This would be the best method for a factory brush bar, there are bolt on HF antenna brackets for the ARB but I think that the jack weight would cause them to rotate eventually. I have since removed mine because it interfers with opening the hood, my next choice is probably the roof rack since I have tried the spare tire carrier and thought it was to hard on the hinges. Mike- Thanks for the response. I saw some of your pics in the Photo Galley and that helps. Did you just use bolts through the antenna tabs on your ARB? I'm planning on using 1/4" x 1" steel to create tabs and have them welded on to the brush bar. What did you use to secure the leverage handle of the lift? And since you mentioned that your ARB had the antenna tabs, would this also be an ideal location for a CB antenna? Thanks! If you happen to have any close up pics, could you post them? |

Jay, I had tabs welded to my lr brush bar to mount my high lift and i use standard size lug nuts to secure it. I have just bungee corded the handle to keep it from flying off. brian friend |
