My ABS kicks on during normal street driving and it's driving me crazy. I don't have the money to get a new sensor. I'm assuming it's a sensor and i know there's one in the front and rear. Any advice would be great. Is there anything else i should look for that could be causing this? |

Cooper, Had the same problem with my 96 Disco and came to Discoweb to find a solution. The problem is now solved and it took me about 2 hours and cost me zero dollars to fix. Until I had the time to remedy this, I simply unplugged the ABS pump under the hood as well as removed the fuse under the dash(fourth over on the right on the bottom row of fuses). If you want to send me an email, I'd be glad to share the info that I received to remedy the problem. Take care.. RS |

actually all you need to do is pull the harness off of the pump under the hood.. it is better to keep the fuses in place. in fact the fuse kept tripping a check engine code that lead to worse gas mileage on my pig.. put the fuses back in and no more check engine light and mpg is back to normal.. I unplugged the ABS pump sensor harness from under the hood and it still activates under normal driving conditions. What's the deal with this? |

Cooper - you must have disconnected something else - with out power the ABS pump cannot run - just ain't possible. Pull the multi-wire connector that is attached to the combination valve body/ABS pump. Bill |

See, i did that and it still activated. Let's see. Your talking about the connector that is on the side of the resevoir where you put the brake fluid, under the hood, driver side behind the air box.. Is that the right place. I think i'm at the wrong place. Dangit. It's bad enough i deep fried my back while changing brake pads yesterday. Actually, i haven't had the problem since i changed the rear pads. But, the Anti-Lock light is still on. Hmmm |

Cooper - you pulled off the reservoir level sensor wires!! (you need them) Pull off the multi-wire plug (huge black plug with about 10 wires) on the combination ABS pump/valve body mounted to your inner fender well. Bill |
