Okay, I'm having my steel wheels powder-coated this week and by Friday will have to make a decision on tire size.

I've got a 2" OME HD (driver's-side coils)suspension upgrade (installing on Saturday) with no spacers and lower EE retainers in the back.

I had a 235/85r/16 rolled out into the parking lot at a tire store today and it was a little scary - very tall tires - granted the lift ain't in yet!

My question: will these things fit and will I have to trim with my current set-up?

Any suggestions here on the size I've got my heart set on?

Thanks in advance,

e

Hey Jon,

That's me! I just put 235/85/16 Dunlop R/T's on last week. I love em! Haven't taken em off road yet. I also have OME Heavy Duty springs all around on my '95 Disco. I was kinda scared too, when they started putting them on it didn't look like they were gonna fit. But I kept my faith in DiscoWeb and sure enough they did. I did drive home without trimming the rear fenders (no rubbing), but the next day I did the Kyle method of moving the rear fenders out with mending plates. This was real simple. Good Luck

For the record, I didn't bring up the whole immigrant thing.

Stupid question - where do I get lug-bolts for my D1 steel spares I'm using now? I hate chrome and I'm incredibly cheap.

lug bolts?
or nuts?

i bought a set from RoverAccessories, and it got fucked up in less than 2 years. threads stripped and mangled. got a set from discount rovers (from Dee, that was), and it's a beauty - same size as the stock nuts (27mm).

I meant nuts, naturally! I need help in so many ways. I forgot about Nathan and Dee until tonight - glad you like the ones they offer. Nathan and Dee, you've got mail!

Cheers,

Erik- I have a Dunlop 235/85/16 RV taking up space in the garage. It's been mounted once as a spare, but never touched pavement. Let me know if your are interested.

Kristian,

Thanks for the install offer and the tire offer. I did the work this weekend with a buddy in Berkeley and paid for it in beer. Thank goodness for his impact wrench and compressor! Manually compressing those springs would have sucked with spanners and sockets!

I bought a full set of 235/85r/16 R/Ts from George Owen tires in Oakland $105 a pop!

Let's hook up sometime soon. NCRC is doing a meeting Wednesday, May 22nd at a pub in Berkeley (Rockridge) if you're interested in joining us.

Cheers,

e
