I thought I read awhile ago that the mounting piece inside the side-mirrors could be purchased separately and has a part number. Does anyone remember this or have the part number handy? It is the little white square that attaches the mirror and makes it move. Thanks!

Robbie,

It was me who posted the part number. It was a Range Rover part number, and I will post it tonight when I get home. I'm not quite sure what bit you are talking about though, this one was black, not white.

Thanks Trevor. Is this the piece that has two bars on each side, that the mirror brackets on to?(i believe that is the way to describe it) I might be wrong on colors (will look again), or maybe they changed for different years? Have a 95 DI. At least with the part number in hand, I will be able to compare. Thanks!

Robbie,

Thats the one. Does not show up in the parts catalogue for the Disco only the RR.

I'll shoot it off later tonight, have to play hockey straight after work.

No problem. And yeah, just looked, it's a black square, the inside moving mechanism looks to be white. I have been living with a duct taped mirror for about 6 months, I can definitely go for another day or so :) Thanks!

You will be happy to know it cost all of $4.00 Canadian. Thats practically free in US Dollars. Must be the only cheap part on a rover.

Hold on just a second. About a couple of months ago someone hit my driver's side mirror. The mirror popped off and was dangling from two wires. I attempted to re-attach the mirror into the assembly by pressing it into position. There are two vertical raised plastic pieces that allow for the mirror to be snapped into position. Unfortunately one of the pieces was broken and I could not re-attach it. Since I was going to the dealer for routine service anyway I asked them to replace the little plastic piece (looks like a toothpick). Dealer says... sorry, we only sell the whole assembly for U$350.00. Man I got hosed.

Sorry to hear you got hosed. Like I said it dosn't show up as a Disco part, only as a Rangie part. The part number is:

STC4625

Robbie, let me know how it works out. Especially the price in USD.

Thanks Trevor, I appreciate it. Will definitely let you know once I get it and get it all reattached.

Sorry dude on you getting hosed! That's why you _must_ read DWeb daily! Ha! :)

If you need the entire assembly, any aftermarket vendor like Nathan or Atlantic British can get an original replacement for a lot less than $350.

Can you replace just the mirror part?

Thanks,

Mike B.,

You can replace just the mirror part. Discount Rovers actually has a brand new left hand mirror for sale on their site right now for $25.

By the way, Nathan @ DiscountRovers is getting my piece for $2.25. So thanks again Trevor!
