I have a 97 Disco and I am interested in finding out how to improve the reliability of my alarm remote. I am having problems arming the alarm, 9 times out of 10 I have to use the key to open and lock the doors. Any thoughts.

Have you tried another remote? This would tell you if its the remote transmitter or the receiver in the vehicle. If it's the remote and you can find an affordable source for new remotes get a new one. If it's the receiver in the vehicle or you can't find a reasonable deal on a new remote I'd replace it with aftermarket.

I am kind of bias toward aftermarket because I am an alarm dealer but you can really get a much better system that has more options and is cheaper to service if you ever damage your remotes or equipment. Just make sure you get a good install especially if you do heavy duty wheelin.

If you want more info on what's available aftermarket let me know on this board or via email at [email protected]

I have two remotes that came with the truck, both have the same issue. I think I would like to get some feedback on aftermarket alarm systems.
