I have rte 2" HD on an 01 DII and am very pleased with them. Only extra weight so far is an ARB, but no winch. However, the truck is still level and 2".

OME is a good and popular choice too. Either way should be good.

Murray, I think you can expect all springs to sag with time and weight. Some are quicker than others and some sag more than others.

If you are after 4", RTM might be the ticket--John's body lift combined with 2" springs sound more sensible than extra tall springs.

I recently switched from Bearmach HD springs to an OME setup that comes close to a 3" lift, and I expect it to sag with time and more weight to about 2-1/2". In the front I have 764s with N73 shocks and the rear has 762s with N76 shocks, which require a new lower mount. The N73 and 76 shocks are longer to suit the lift and appear well suited for the flex that the springs offer. I settled on this setup after a lot of advice from EE

While I really liked my Bearmach springs off road, this OME setup provides more stability both on and off road. Off camber situations have become far more comfortable with the stiffer springs.

Hey Moe,

interesting setup.

I have been following threads also on EE BBS about 764 upfront with N73. I think HO was thinking of doing it also.

But untill now, I have not found many user feedback on the behaviour of this setup really tested.

Seems you are happy with it. Good :-)

Do you have other mods to accomodate the 3 inch :
- CV joint front shaft ?
- trailling arms ?
- longer brake hose ?
- Other things ?

Do you have any drivetrain problem after the lift ?

Kindest regards.
Erik.

While I have a RR, the underpinnings are about the same. I am running RTE 3" springs and OEM style Bilstein shocks (formerly OME shocks).

I didn't do driveshafts, trailing arms, brakes, or any other mods. My setup works just fine. No vibrations, no problems. I've been on the 3" lift for about a year. I had a 2" lift before that, also with no trouble.

Would you mind telling me about the body lift? How hard is it? Is it expensive? Are there any draw backs?

cool cool guys. well i really like rovertyms lift so i mite go with that. if i do get the rovertym lift what all would i need? brakes hoses? shock mounts? are radius and trailering arms nessecary?
(moe) what size tiers do you have on your truck? i am looking at the super swamper 32 tsl? do you think that is a good tire? thanks

Erik, yes I am happy with the setup. My only complaint is that the rear shocks could be slightly stiffer. The N76s apppear to be close to the regular OME N45(?) in the upstroke but softer on the downstroke.

I have been slowly upgrading parts for about 2yrs now so have all the things on your checklist and a few more
--GBR front drive shaft
--RTE rear links
--EE retainers and extended brake lines
-- Bumpstops

You might not need all these upgrades. For some time I was running stock brake lines with my old Bearmach springs, which flex more than the OME. I made a small bracket to extend the stock bracket that holds the brake line junction above the diff. With the extra 1" I had just enough room for full flex but was always concerned about shearing the lines in situations of 'forced' flex rather than natural flex--like getting the rear left tire stuck in a hole and against a ledge, allowing it to be leveraged down.

Drivetrain problems? If you don't have them, you will sometime :) I have chased vibes front to back and then front again. I feel like my drivetrain is a lot smoother now. I do have a vibe in the front (~40-45mph) that I believe is related to steering/alignment/wheel balancing. I am waiting on a warrantied steering box.

Murray, I am running 235/85 trxus (from Interco). They are shy of 32" so no issues with size. I regret not getting the 255/85s as they run small too. I really can't say anything about the TSLs

You are right there, curiosity will drive me to another purchase :) I am on my way to collect a second set of steel rims so I can run summer and winter tires.

murray,

I have run the 32x9.50 TSLs for some time now and overall I am happy with them. They are great off road, but they suck big time on road, especially on the highway. Last week I got a set of Futura Enforcers, and so far I have been very happy with them. In highway noise and performance, they are comparable to the stock XPCs. I tried them off road yesterday for only for a short time, but I thought they seemed to do really well.

A better question would be Perroney. "What doesnt suck about a TSL on the road". The guy could answer it faster... :)

LOL

Swampers aren't as bad as everyone says they are. Once they get warmed up and stop with the THUD THUD THUD THUD from the cups, they actually provide a pretty supple ride. Correct air pressure is key. Low air pressure and you will throw your lugs on the highway, correct air pressure keeps everything in tact. Even in 95 degree weather they did well on a long road trip when I set the air pressure correctly...

They are what they are, though. They wear out fast. Simply for that reason, they are not good for daily use, as you can go through them too quickly. I suggest anyone who does do a lot of daily driving head over to the for sale section and buy my 265/75's for daily use, and use the swampers for the trails. :)

It all depends on what you can tolerate for the benefit off road.

There is no "hybrid" anything.

That's the truth, it does depend on what you can tolerate. They are loud, they wear fast, and they're bias ply. But as long as the people know what they are getting into before hand...whatever. Personally, I can tolerate them on short trips. However, on long trips I wouldn't want to deal with them.

Oh well,

If loud and wearing fast is the problem, I can live with that. I thought they would make my car flip over 3 times if I hit a rainy patch on the road... you know, like my Detroit.

Thanks, I feel better now.

Kyle

Well , they suck in the rain , they suck in the snow (Unless its deep) tehy suck on long drives... Hmmm , as I said , on road , they pretty much just suck. They are great off road tires..... OFF ROAD

My Detroit has popped exactly once since I installed it. And it was my fault for being in a hurry as I was late for work. Kyle told me to be careful with it since he ran over some ice that a guy dumped out of his cooler and he flipped his truck...

I just don't want any tires that can do that to me. I want to be careful.

Don't forget the absolutely gorgeous 15" rims you need to fit the 32" Swampers, they sure do add to the Extreme look. I guess I should be really careful since I have the detroit and Swampers I'm in huge trouble.

the point of 2 sets of tires for me was the wear and gas cost. why buy 3 or 4 sets of swampers, when you can buy 1 set of swampers and one set of street tires to last you way more road miles? it is simply cheaper when you do the math on a truck that gets driven 300+ miles a week if you factor in tire costs and gas costs for running MT's vs AT's over time. now, i only drive the rover once in a while to work or for heading to the trails. therefore, don't need 2 sets of tires.

don't tell me about snow. we have it here in chi-town. deep, slushy, icy, powdery, heavy, light, you name it, we get it. i would not hesitate to take my truck with siped swampers in any of it - including with my detroit and TT.

the noise is there, and THUMP THUMP is there but you can decide wether or not you want to want to tolerate it.
