I was looking around under my passenger seat in my 95 Disco today and noticed the diagnostic dislay box. I recently had a check engine light come on while wheelin'. The box is reading the number 44. I wondering if there is a connection here between the check engine light and the number 44. I do not have a LR manual so could someone help me out, and let me know what is going on. Thanks Chuckwagon |

Code 44 - Lambda sensor A - left bank From the Tech section. I have no idea what a Lambda sensor is. |

All that code means is that the reading from the driver's side oxygen sensor above the catalytic converter on the exhaust Y-pipe is out of range and inconsistent with previous readings. The first thing to do is reset the display and drive around, seeing if it comes back. It could be a fluke. Clearing the display: Switch ignition on. Disconnect serial link mating plug, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect. Switch ignition off, wait for main relay to drop out. Switch ignition on. The display should now be reset. If there are other faults, the next one will be displayed. Otherwise the display will be black If there is more than one fault repeat steps 1 to 4, to clear each fault until the display is blank. That's where your OBD reader is (under your passenger seat). It will let you know what fault codes your truck is having. There are links on this site and others that will explain what the numbers correspond too. If you have no red numbers, then there are no faults. This is only for the 95 and older trucks. 96+ are OBDII and need a diagnostic tool. Robbie |
