Well I went and bashed my steering damper this weekend and bent the rear tie rod. What a flimsy POS! Haven't taken the SD off to see if it is still usable but had planned on a SG conversion kit to relocate. Any better suggestions, I'd be open to one that called for a D-90 damper since mine may be toast. Also looks like DAP, Inc. has the sweat deal on tie rods with ball joints. How easy is this replacement? Looks like it should be simple enough but since I haven't decided which workshop manual to buy (I've found 3 different ones, including Haynes) I'm just guessing. Suggestions? Thanks Jay |

Jay, easy job to do yourself. I have the Rockware reloc kit with a D90 dampener and just purchased the Rockware HD tierod to replace the stock item. Heard good things about the DAP stuff although I have not seen or used them. Jeff |

Jay The DAP rods are HD compared to stock, DAP says you do not need a steering dampener NOT True get a relocation kit. Your ok under 40mph on a straight but if you hit a bump or go around a bumpy bend in the road Hold on. The steering wheel shacks very bad, it will calm down when you drop down under 30mph. And they rust all you see under my rig is a rusty rods. I just bought the RT rods and relocation kit and it looks nicer than the DAP one. Good Luck |

Jay - check out the RTE items - all stainless 1 1/4" diam. and with the RTE relocation kit, you can use the much less expensive Ford F350 steering damper from Napa (about $27.00) BTW - you must specify to John when you order that you want it to fit the F350 damper. Bill |
