Hey all....I took my hs9500I warn apart and water gushed out. The brake no longer holds under tension. What do I need to do? Also, what type of greese do I need in that thing? I e-mailed warn but they don't feel like responding. Thanks,

Brian,

Try giving Warn a call. They can rebuild your unit for a nominal price I think.

The brake can be put in couple of ways yet only one way will work. I'm not going to be able to explain it but it should be evident if you try the mechanism by hand when it's out of the drum. Since I damaged the spring in the brake, I ended up having to buy a whole new brake ($100CDN). That one comes assembled and just slides in (it comes wrapped in a cradboard collar).

Make sure the drum has no grease/oil inside (brake cleaner works well). As to the rest of the winch, take it appart, clean, grease, put back together. You can use silicone to seal the housing to the drum support but don't count on it being waterproof as mud and water seap in from around the drum.

Warn is typically very helpfull so if you have trouble call them or post here but you should be bale to do without their or our help.
