Last Friday I was taking my wife to dinner for her birthday, and as I drove up a long steep hill through a canyon going to Park City.I saw white smoke starting to pour out the back and from under the hood. I pulled over and popped the hood expecting to see a ruptured hose. I was dumbfounded when I could find no leaks in any hose. After restarting the disco, which never over heated or ran very hot, I saw cooling fluid coming from out of the seams of the cooling reservoir tank. I have never seen this happen before or ever heard of it. Is this just a rover thing? I duck taped it together and use a tie down strap to hold the tank together to limp home. My point of this post is to check the tank along with the hoses for signs of aging, or you might end up an upset wife that didn't get a birthday dinner.

Common problem here in Saudi. Some time in the last few years they changed the plastic to seal better at the joint - I think colour changed from black to beige.
Bad luck is all.

$30! I paid almost $60 last year from RN.

You can patch them using plastic tank repair patch, but one must wrap a hose clamp around it to keep it under compression. I got several thousand miles out of mine until I $%^&ed it up trying to perfect the patch...

Also, the new ones won't fit directly into older Discos as the bolt holes don't line up.

Well, shit, I just paid $60 for an aftermarket one from Atlantic British, but this one (white in color) appears to be MUCH sturdier than the original. Time will tell. I tried to patch my old one with epoxy, but it still leaked. Radiator tape worked better.

Well I bought the Beige from the stealership, I needed it right away and couldn't wait. I paid $80. They quoted me $127 at first, I was shocked at that price and said no thanks, so the parts counter guy I guess felt sorry for me and sold it at wholesale to me. I felt better with this until I read this thread and saw $30-$40. Oh well, I guess thats what happens when you are in a hurry. Plus I agree, thank god for duct tape or my wife would have been even more pissed to walking to a phone as I was in the middle of no where and the cell was at home. lol Also thank god that a rover can be fixed with duct tape.

Marriages and your tax bill are the only things not fixed by tape for ducks.
