Got a vexing problem. With a new battery (3mos- been fine up to now) if Disco sits over nite (all interior lights do go out) the battery is so dead the dome lights won't even flicker. Jumps off just fine. Any idea where an insidious power drain may occur?

Have had problem in the past with battery dead after 4 days parked but since new battery installed it hasn't set that long to see if different.

Have checked all swithes etc. I'm stumped!!

What year is your disco? The following is from the British Pacific website for 94-96 disco.
Ground-based electrical Problems - Troubleshooting
Vehicle - Discovery 1994-1996

Poor grounds can cause numerous problems on 1994 - 1996 Discoverys. The following are main ground locations and the components they effect. To clean the contact surface, remove the fastener and use a wire brush to clean the post, connector and nut as needed. Spraying on a little contact cleaner may help, too. If the contact point is painted, a star washer can also be added to improve the connection.
Check these ground locations:
1. Right inner fender, behind the battery. Battery and EMC on 1994 & 1995 models.
2. Below the battery, inside the right frame rail. Battery ground.
3. Right of the left cylinder head. ECU, AC compressor clutch on 1994 & 1995 models.
4. Right frame rail, inside wheel well. Starter.
5. Left footwell, behind trim panel. ECM, key switch, radio, OBDII data link.
6. Right footwell, behind trim panel. Starter solenoid relay, park-neutral position switch, alarm, data link connector.
7. Left side of luggage compartment, behind access panel for taillights, above light assembly. Fuel pump, fuel level sensor.

Try doing a leak test on the alternator, My wife had the same prob on a 88 mustang, IT"S now someone elses! But i pulled the + terminal and ran a amp meter btwn the batt post and the cable, there was a 4 amp draw apon shut down, The alternatot did charge properly and when turning off the engine there was 12.8 V at the batt. But the 4 amp draw was enough to kill the batt in 4-6 hrs. just a bad alternator! Good luck.

Don't let it sit overnight. They hate that!

Had same prob, 94 Disco, was the alternator. Would charge when running, but had bad diode and would discharge when ignition off. Got rebuilt alt & that fixed the prob. When the engine was off, you could actually hear the diode 'humming'.
