Not much...........subtle...........but it feels like there is a shake or a vibration.....more like a subtle shake when i am cruising at about 70-85MPH. For example, when I'm in cruise control @ about 80, and I press the cancel button and allow the truck to slow down by itself (no brake) it feels like it's subtley shaking. Maybe the onset of something. It's a 98 Disco I.

Could this be a bad steering dampener? Some worn joint? Feedback is appreciated as usual.

might be the shocks or rotoflex or a combination of both. Mine shook above 70mph, put a new rotoflex and 4 new shocks(bilsteins) on and viola! smooth as silk up to 100 or so. Your results may vary. Good luck. JMcD

Hi!
When you got a lift for example OME it comes from driveshaft!
greatings from good old Germany!

Won't be the steering damper(dampner). Likely the rotoflex, but others have said they last for 135k mi. But it is a suspect. doug @ 101k, (davibes @ 23-27mph)

yep buddy,

mine (98 DI) has the rubber rotoflex donut :-)

And yep, try the rotoflex for that kind of vibe. Check if you see some cracks in the rubber around the bolts.

Should be shacking also when give some torque to the drivetrain (acceleration). Well it did when mine was sick :-)

Best regards.

Where is the rotoflex, and how much to replace?

It is @ the rear Diff. connecting the driveshaft to the diff. pre 97's, some 97 have them and I hear some DII have them. It is a rubber dounut instead of using a U-joint

Cost the part runs about 60-100. Intalled DIY

I heard this rotoflex does not withstand any serious off-rading very long. Therefore when I had bought a Disco- rear axle and put in under my Range Rover Classic I replaced it with a common u-joint. I could keep the driveshaft so effort was minimal.
Probably not cost effective for others due to the need to change the driveshaft aswell for the u-joint design, the drive flange on the diff itself is cheap (50$) and not too difficult to replace.
