Hey All,

Two of my sunshades have broken clips, but the retraction mechanism and everything else is fine. Is there a way to replace just the clip?? It looks like a two-piece part, but are they replaceable???

As always, many thanks....

Ride On,
Chuckster

yes, they are replacable. One of mine has been replaced, I don't know what was involved exactly because the dealer did it before I got it, but I do know they replaced just the clip not the whole shade.

Really? I was just about to order two... maybe I'll wait for more feedback.

How did you solve it Tom? Any thoughts? It shows the clip as being an original part?? My truck is a 94...

yeah, i know. what i got was totally shaped differently. maybe they just sent me the wrong stuff, but it didn't work for me.

If you look at the image and look at your clip, they are different, or at least mine is. Mine has a long skinny handle that is not as wide as the the full clip itself. This thing doesn't match up. And, looking at it, what part would actually hook to keep the shade closed?

I think the clips that they sell are the ones that mount on the body, not the sunshade. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that you have to buy the entire sunshade assembly (at like $300+ !!!) in order to repair the broken clip.

I see what you mean Tom, I was a little confused by that image as well. I need the same part that you are talking about - the one that is on the shade itself...

Anyone out there ever replaced these before???

Thanks in advance...

yep i caled them and those clips are for the body mount not the sun shades. i had one broken one and what i did was go to ace hardware and i picked up a mirror ar picture fram clip and attached it to the broken clip. cant even tell when it is closed and the metal clip only cost me 50 cents. they also have the same one at home depot and lowes. i just used some high stength velcro to attach it havent had any problems. alot cheaper than a new 300 dollar one.

I have the same problem with a broken clip. I asked the dealer and they said that they do not have a part that just fixes the clip, you have to buy a whole new sunshade, at about $600 I think they said. I started not listening at that point.
Anyways, I'm looking at trying to "rig" something up that will work. I'm not worried about fashion or making it look good, I just need it to work.

I'll keep you posted on what I come up with.

Yep, I was going to bend some metal and glue it on. The picture hanger idea is great! I have a box of these at home.

Thanks Jerry!

I drilled and tapped the plastic that was remaining on the sunshade from the original clip, then fashioned a hook out of a heavy-duty paper clip, and screwed it onto the plastic. Works great!
