Hello as stated previously I recently acquired a 1996 Disco sans owners manual. Well, tonight I was trying to familiarize my self with the T-case shifter. When I shifted into LOCK a buzzer chimed and wouldnt stop. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Maybe you guys can help : If this is the position of the tcase shifter: [1][2] = (4L) [3][4] [5][6] = (4H) Now position [6] is the stock 4h default position for daily driving and I know that the transmission (automatic) needs to be in neutral and speed less than 5 mph before moving the tcase shifter. Scenario: 4h to 4h cdl (is this even possible?) Shift: [6] -> [5] Scenario: 4h to 4l Shift: [6] -> [4] -> [2] Scenario: 4h to 4l cdl Shift: [6] -> [4] -> [2] *OR* [6] -> [4] -> [3] -> [1] ?? Any help would be *GREATLY* appreciated as I am hoping to take the DISCO off road for its and my first time this memorial day weekend. Thanks! PS - the tcase shifter is quite stubborn .. any Ideas? Sorry for the double post but the less than symbol ( < ) really messed up my previous post. |

1. Yes 4H to 4H cdl is possible. Most likely your linkage is stuck. It most likely has never been used before you bought the Disco. You might want to spray some penetrating fluid on there to get it to move easier. It might be stubborn for a while. On mine I just had to work it back and forth to get to be easier to engage. You dont have to have the car in neutral just to engage the cdl. 2. 4H to 4L. The easiest way is to be just slightly moving, put the car in neutral, and move the lever forward, and then shift back into drive. 3. Once in either in 4H or 4L you can engage or disengage the cdl, just by moving the lever over. |
