Well, the time is upon me! I have located a D1 CDL/transfer case linkage for my beloved Disco II!

Expect to hear from me, as I will be undertaking the conversion this week!

In the meantime, any tips you other CDL Disco II owners may have for me will be greatly appreciated!

I called the guys at http://www.britishrecycling.com/ They were really helpful and the part was CHEAP! It was $90 with tax and shipping.

I will probably need other parts to complete the installation, but the hardest part is completed!

Blue-

That comment made my day! It was getting to the point where I was about to do that! Actually, I could probably trade linkages with some unwitting soccer mom who wouldn't know the difference anyhow!

Craig,

Congratulations! :) I'm happy for you ... I'm too excited to call that place, I don't even know where I put the diagram of parts to order ... Keep us posted. That is good news.

Guess what you guys??!! I just ordered it! I'm so excited! :):):)

Seeing that I'm a mechanical retard, hopefully everything will turn out okay.

Thanks for the post and information, Craig

Craig,
1)Read all the material that is needed to install in Tech section on Expeditionexchange.com
2)Contact Nathan Crabtree to get you the remainder of parts mentioned to finish install.
3)Make sure on your linkege you have the shaft that hooks up to the CDL bolt, if not email me privatley and ill talk you through it.

I just did mine past weekend with HO's Help.

Good Luck
Cheers

Thanks Alen!

My concern is that I have all the necessary nuts and bolts to make this work.

I don't know why, but all of a sudden I'm scared of installing my CDL linkage. It really seems simple...

I suppose it would be easier if I had someone with first hand experience standing next to me helping me out.

Craig, dont worry.
I can talk you through it step by step, its not that hard. Call me If u have problem
(630)336-0228.
Ralphs instructions on the Tech section in EE is pretty easy to follow, i printed every page and oversized each picture to help install in the truck. Make sure you get all parts stated and check if your linkege has the bottom piece on the vertical rod that hooks to the CDL bolt.

Woohoo!

I got my linkage in the mail today! I'm off to the store to get some degreaser because it's pretty nasty, but I am definitely fired up now! I can't wait to install this thing!

Alen-

I will inspect to see if it has the connector for the nut on the CDL

I've cleaned off my linkage... here are pics of what I received...

The first two pictures are self explanatory, the third pictures show a missing bolt that connects the CDL linkage to the shifter assembly itself.

CDL Linkage #2

How do I get that damn shifter knob off? I can't seem to get it done!

Unscrew it.

also while degreasing is nice I would slather it in grease again after I was done. No rust, won't seize, won't rattle. grease is your friend.
