The semi-circular toothed part of the regulator has broken its spot welds and fallen off. Does anyone know if I can remove the regulator without removing the frame and window glass assembly? Can it be disconnected and pulled out through the bottom?

regards
John

yes you can take out out the regulator without removing the window frame.there are 2- 8 mm bolts that hold the window to the regulator at the bottom.just loosen the bolts and slide the rail to the side and push the window up out of the way.now you can remove the regulator.you will need to change the window lift motor to the new regulator. hope this helps....Don

A tip, lower the window enough so can have easy access to undo the rail bolts. When installing, you will need to use the motor to push the assembly back into place to align the bolts for final assembly. This means, assemble as much as possible and for the final holes that are difficult to align, turn on ignition and tap the window switch upwards until holes align.
Learned this the hard way after 20 minutes of struggle trying to align final bolts.
Good luck.

Another thing to watch for on this. I got an Allmakes copy of the genuine unit when my driver's door unit failed - nylon rollers broke up, not available separately. This looked like it would be better, as it had bigger rectangular nylon pieces sliding in the glass rail. In use however, the unit is made of lighter grade metalwork, it flexed more, allowing the glass to rattle on the plastic guide piece, and then it broke the spot welds off like the start of this thread. I managed to bolt it up again, but it didnt last long, and I had to buy a genuine unit again.
DONT BUY THESE CHEAPER SUBSTITUTES!
