I was replacing distributor cap on my 95 disco and I can't seem to get it to seat correctly. For some reason it is riding on the rotor. Any suggestions? thanks |

is it the way you are installing it or is the cap differernt. Do you have the same problem when you replace the old one? If not, it sounds like you got the wrong cap. I just ordered a cap and they sent me the wrong one. |

No it happens with old cap and rotor too. After I pulled the distributor I discovered the real problem. There is/was a little plastic something that holds the shaft in the mechanical advance. For some reason that little plastic something broke allowing the shaft to move up. Once it moved it pulled the springs from the mechanical advance plate. After I reattached the springs(around 2:30 am) the rotor sat in the correct location. |

I just pulled the same stunt this morning. How did you get the springs back on? I fought it for a few hours and gave up. Any tricks? I would love to benefit from your experience. Thanks, Blake |
