Alright heres the story (kinda long). In Dec of 2001 my truck (96 DI abot 54000 miles) started stalling at lights and I was not able to get it restarted. Once I started it, it idled very high around 2000 RPM and ran rough. Of course the check engine light came on when the truck stalled. I normally do all my own work, but dont have equipment to read the codes. I took the truck to a good European shop. After getting the truck back he said he found no problems and the truck was running fine. Here is what the ivoice said- READ CODES P0605 INTERNAL CONTROL MODULE READ ONLY, MEMORY ERROR, NO PROBLEMS FOUND AT THIS TIME. So now, five months later the light is still on, the truck runs great, idle is where it should be and fuel economy is fine. I brought the truck back last week and he still couldnt get the light off. Is there some type of computer problem or do I need to go to my LR dealership and have them ($$$) take a look. Your replies are as always appreciated Thanks again Matt |

the problem with aftermarket diag tools is that they can only read p0 codes as in (p0605)if there is a p1 code as in (p1316 misfire) there scanner will not pick it up,only the land rover scanner will.this is the same with every manufacture.it is based on epa standards.so you may still have a p1 code and his scaner is displaying no codes found.there were alot of prom up-dates for that year that could be setting a code, but without knowing what the code is its hard to tell.hope this helps...Don |
