Can the stock LR amplifiers be removed (i.e. unscrew power, ground, amp turn-on, speaker wires and unscrew amp) replace with new more powerful amp-replace power, ground, amp turn-on, and speaker wires? I've seen pictures of "replacement Pioneer" amps where all of the connectors look standard or the same as every amp in the world. Any ideas? |

Yes. Remove ALL that stock crap!! Gut it out!! You can find woofers that fit very easily into that small area. More common, however, is to secure a bigger woofer(s) where the plastic side cargo bins are (with that plastic wall removed). THIS really makes your Disco sound just like that, a disco. They come with their own little amps on them too. |

Can the factory amps be tuned to put out more power? |

If the stock amp isn't powerful enough for you, your best bet is to mount a new amp somewhere else, run all new wire, etc. It's not that difficult (there's plenty of room above the headliner). Do like SoCalJoe suggested and buy and/or make a sub to go in one of the rear cargo bins. You can mount a decent size amp in the bin on the other side. David |

I have rewired my entire stereo system and it wasn't that bad. If you are just looking for a better sound without having to spend to much money then just buy better speakers. The stock amplifiers are actually fairly powerfull when combined with decent speakers. If you want awesome sound then you will have to rewire the entire system. Todd |
