Ok, I know that I'll probably catch some flack for posting this, but I would like to be able to go ahead and gain a couple of inches before I can afford the complete OME set-up. If I simply purchase 2 OME HD springs and put them in the rear, and move my rears to the front, will that give me an even lift? I keep saving up for the whole deal but keep breaking things. Thanks in advance for your comments...RS |

It'll ~almost~ be even. I did it to my truck when OME\ARB was out of front springs....You can't really tell at first glance that the front is lower, but then again my truck just rolled 100k, so my springs might be a little moe weak. Find some used OME's and throw them on...it'd be worth the wait. You'll also need shocks for the front unless you like to switch out shocks... moe betta to go wit da OME's all around.. Hey Rob what size tires will you be going to after your lift? |

Even with OME HD all around the truck will not be level. You will be tail high considerable with a bumper and winch and slightly w/o a bumper and winch. The same is true with stock rears in front. With springs from a 98 you will be hard pressed to tell the difference in appearance between OME HDs up front and stock rears up front. Let us know how you like it and your feelings after you "upgrade" to OME HD all around. Ron |

I currently do not have an aftermarket bumper and most likely will never do a winch though it would be for the best, the wife just won't let me. If I could expense it for work purposes that would be really nice but I'm sure that the boss man wouldn't like that bill too much. I'm going to try and do the CB lift the end of June. However, things may change and I will be able to go ahead with the full on OME set up. Thanks for your postings.. RS |

Ron, FWIW, I have OME 751 in front, and 762 - in the rear of my disco and rangie. Disco sits ~3/8-1/2" nose high, rangie - level or 1/4" to 3/8" tail high. rangie has an ARB bumper, disco - BP's half-rack. Maybe the little extra weight changes it. peter |

Oh, and I am planning on simply putting on 265/75/16's b/c I'm too shaky to be trimming any metal |

Peter, that is interesting. Those rear springs must have seen some use! USUALLY it is the other way around. You are about 1/4-1/2 high in the rear without a front bumper although YMMV etc etc. My point was more that unless badly sagged 751s and stock rears provide similar lift, if the rates are a little different. Ron, If you go with the CB lift do you need to switch out shocks right away or can they wait a few months? How would the original shocks affect the handling on/off road with the extra hight? Thanks just curious |

I have ome springs with original shocks. The shocks do ok. I have driven an ome sprung vehical with ome shocks and the shocks do make a big difference though. Ome shocks reduce the vehical sway when on the trail and it also reduces the body roll in turns on the road. IMHO the shocks are well worth the money. Todd |

Anon, You don't have to do the shocks either. Will new shocks make it more stable on bumps and give you more control YES. However, the increase in spring rate (OME HDs and rears in front have higher rates than stockers) will do much to offset the effect of the hieght. In fact I would have to say that it makes it a bit more stable with the CB than stock. Though due to the loss of castor with the lift (any lift) it will tend to wander. One caveat though is that since the shocks come at least part way off you should check to see that they are still functioning. If there is resistance they are still ok (mind you stock woodheads were never good) but if they are real easy to move replace the offending shock(s). Shocks do make a difference but I would not consider them to be necessary. Ron |

I agree with Ron. After doing the CB lift, I waited nearly six months to replace the shocks. I did not notice much of a change at all with the new shocks. I was surprised as I had old Woodheads with many miles on them and replaced them with Bilsteins. Paul |
