Howdy.. I've a 96 five speed SD.. and the Red service engine light just came (84,000 miles). I'm guessing it's probably a O2 sensor but I'm not sure. Anybody now of someone with a computer where I can plug in and find out for sure the fault ?? (I live in Western Oregon) Thanks Mike |

Check the code readout on the ECU under the passenger seat. Compare your read out to the list here http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~lloyd/tildeLand-Rover/Elec/ErrorCodes.html to determine where the problem is. Might be as simple as clearing the SE light. If so, I think you just have to push a toothpick or needle into the opening in the top of the ECU to clear it. |

Ooops, I just remembered that you have a 96. I'm not sure if the above will work if you have the OBDII system. |

If it is just the Red "Service Engine" light, that is to indicate an emission service. Does not mean anything is wrong with your truck, just that Land Rover recommends having an emissions check up for your truck. Believe it comes on around the 82,000 mile mark. In 96-99, I believe the reset box is behind your passenger side kick panel. A little red box with a hole in the top that you stick a paper clip into. This should reset the light. Robbie |

I know I'm going to get hit with O2 sensors sooner or later.. but I really didn't want to do it now.. Thanks for all the help.. !! That saved me a big hassle.. and dollars too!! Mike |

I have a 94 Disco with the same problem. I looked behind the passanger side kick panel and there is no red reset box. I couldn't find anything that you could reset. Does anyone know where the reset may be on this year model? Gary |

Under you passenger seat. Little red box next to the ECU read-out screen. Same procedure. Robbie |
