Any or all, The stock tires have a recommended pressure printed on the driver's door - much less than what's on the tire itself. I've now dumped these tires for a brand-spankin' new set of Dunlop Radial Rover R/Ts 235/85r/16 on Discovery 1 steel spares. When they were mounted and balanced, the tire dealer inflated them to the tire specification and now my ride is very loose feeling, rigid and stiff (also installed OME HD recently) as ***t. I'm wondering if anyone has found a good highway pressure for these lovely tires? Thanks for anything you can give me! Cheers, e |

40front/50rear work from that as a starting point. If the tire dealer has them at 80psi I think you have your answer. Also keep in mind OME HDs and E rated dunlops take your caddy ride and turn it into an F250 ride Ron PS funny as ***t is rarely stiff |

My RT/s started at 44 each from the tire guy. It was painful with OME HD. I now run 28 front, 34 rear with the RT/s, it's a great road ride. I'm still not enthused with some other areas of performance with these babies!

40front/50rear That's exactly what I was running in my R/Ts, but I was running 245/75R16.... so, you might need to tune it to suit your tastes.... Michael, Don't take your R/Ts where you should've taken a canoe! -L |

I don't see why you are complaining about the tires...... I mean you were able to pull that tractor through all that gooop..... common man...... be happy with that outstanding feat of a Disco and tire combo... |

I know, I know, but I couldn't resist. Drought around here has the water levels dropping and I wanted some mud to test 'em out with. Boy, did I get what I asked for. Reality is, this was very deep mud, mostly the red clay kind, really only suitable for a big MT tire I guess. As I pulled it out, the whole truck slid down into the pond and sunk up over the tires in the mud! The water on that side is only about 12" deep. |

Way too much fibre can make your ***t firm anyway. Perhaps stiff was a bit of an exaggeration. Thanks for the 40 / 50 advice, I'll try it this morning and work from there. Cheers, e |

Okay, Aired down the tires from 80 psi (that explains a lot) to 70 rear / 65 front and will continue to come down today until I like the ride. For those who indicate a 50 rear / 40 front for highway - doesn't this "under-inflation" introduce a good amount of heat at highway speed? I'm concerned from a safety point of view (saw a fatal SUV roll-over on the way home last night) and naturally, wish to prolong the life of the $100++ tires for as long as possible. Do you see 25k - 35k miles on your tires at these low pressures? I spend 85% of the time on the road, many miles made up in freeway traffic. When on trail, I'll be airing down as low as 15 - 25 psi, and know the Dunlop reputation for sidewall strength. I'm more concerned about higher-speed highway driving. Thanks for any advice or input! Cheers, e |

F-250, LOL. Speaking of Ford, I'm going to go make a SuperDuty in the bathroom right now. Be back in twenty. Cheers, |

Erik, the pressure shown on the side of the tire is the MAX pressure. ie. don't go above or it could theoretically explode or some other unpleasant thing. I have always run somewhere in the thirties with truck tires. 70/65 is way way high unless you're hauling crazy heavy loads. |

80 psi is what you would run if you were at at GVWR of 12000lbs Since you are less than half that 40/50 is fine. Stock recommended pressure is 28/38 I think. On an F250 empty you would be (with the same RTs) somewhere in the 50-60 range. The disco being lighter 40/50 is perfectly fine and will give you good ride, handling, and not compromise tread life or heat. There are ways to back into what tire pressure to run but my theory is generally start with a good guess and adjust as you like. Too high a pressure is not good either. The center of the tread will wear but not the outside. Ron |

Erik, When I traded my Disco in, the R/Ts had 31k on them, and were barely showing tread wear. I fully expected to get over 50k on them. Take it on down to 40/50, see if you like it. If not, try 50/60. I think you're like it down in that range. -L |

i run 36 in the front and 42 in the rear..i am thinking about going down a few pounds on each tire as well (still just a bit rough). an easy way to find the "soft ride" is to fill up your tires equally almost to max..put a heavy line of chalk across each one of your tires and slowly deflate them equally..it will take a couple of times but once you deflate them down a bit (the first time roll the car about 50 feet) look to see how much of the chalk has touched the asphalt. keep deflating evenly down and rolling until all 4 tires are flat across the ground.what you want to see is the entire line of chalk across the tread to be hitting the pavement..your tire pressure will have to be adjusted whenever carrying heavy loads...hope this helps.. |

Erik, any updates on SuperDuty? what was the pressure (if you didn't measure it properly, the "seat of the pants" feeling would do)? peter |

I run 35lbs in both the front and the rear with 235/85/16 Dunlop R/T's on my '95 Disco. I don't think there's a better "all-around" tire out there! I also have OME heavy's all around and Bilstein shocks. I think the Bilsteins have alot to do with my great ride. Good Luck. |
