My 97 disco has a problem around 65 and above. The engine will suddenly cut out untill I let off the gass and decelerate down to about 45. It is if the engine is starving but only sometimes. It will go for months and then all of a sudden it will happen. It seems to happen more if the engine has been running for an hour or more. Any help would be awsome. I am in the military and just shiped my disco with me to Saudi Arabia. I would hate to get stranded out in the middle of no no land. Could it be the engine speed sensor or fuel pump how could I tell the diffrence? |

My speed sensor was changed 4 times before I finally told the dealership to check the valves-again! The finally gave in and gave me the valve job under warranty. I experienced the same problem as Terry. I would be running around 70, let off the gas, get back on it, and it would sputter and vibrate. I would then decelerate to around 45ish and it would stop. Hasn't done it since the vjob and it runs like a champ. Jack 99D1 |

Have you checked the fuel filter? How many miles on your rig? Thanks, Mike B. |

I changed the fuel filter, plugs and wires. I dont get any codes. It runs great other than when it decides it wants to act up. I have 93000 miles. |

One of my guesses would be intermittent failure of fuel pump power - dry solder joints or bad plug contacts are infamous there. find a way to fit a pressure gauge you can read while moving (but preferably not IN the car), and watch it - < 25psi will be a problem. PS - there are a bunch of Disco users already in Riyadh, so get in touch! jp |
