My pump to steering box hose is pissing all over itself - planning on changing it out tomorrow. Couple of questions:

Do I need a flare wrench for the fittings or will an open-end do the job. I'm not sure how tight these things generally are.

Any sealant on the fittings?

Anything special to bleed the system when I'm done?

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Scott,

I need to do that too. Where did you get the parts and how much? Thanks.

British Pacific - $39. I would have ordered from discountrovers, but it usually takes them a few days to get the parts out. BP overnighted the hose to me.

High pressure hose (pump to box?) should have small O rings on the pipe part to seal against - dont lose them. Nothing special about tightening in my experience.Very messy- oil everywhere is the major problem - dont do it in your driveway. Try to siphon off the oil out of the tank before hand to reduce mess.
Fill up afterwards, start it, top off. Crack bleeder on top of box, work steering lock-to-lock until only clear fluid comes out, no froth or bubbles, top off tank again, close bleeder. Check your low pressure hoses also (tank to box, tank to pump) WYAIT.

Thanks for the help guys - the job was VERY easy. Took me a whole 20 minutes, cleaning up my garage floor took longer.
