Is there any electronics in the engine bay with the Td5 engine.

I have seen some older desiel engines be completely submerged in water and still go - they did have a snokel.

Cheers

Diesels confuse me.
I can't even spell it right!

So a TD4 would have 4 cilynders?

I think I got it.

Before the Td5, were the 200tdi and 300tdi. Those were 4 cylinder. There never was a Td4.

Dudley,

The Td5 has as much electronics on it as a late Disco V8... although it doesn't have the spark plugs, it has an ECU, etc.

The Tdi 200 and Tdi 300 are much simpler, and easier to set up for wading, etc.

Paul:

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that the Freelander has the Td4. I'm in the US where we can't get diesel rovers from the dealers. Only option is to get a conversion done, but that's expensive. The only current passenger vehicles that I know of that you can get in a diesel in the US are the VW Jetta and Golf and heavy-duty pickup trucks.
