Ok, I ordered a rear detroit locker, and GBR axles, and i have a question. Do i need to get longer bolts for the flanges for the axles? Or can i use the original ones, or are new ones included? Is there anything else i should watchout for/or do will i am under there and installing the diff and axles?
Thanks
Will

i have a thought, would it be worth spending the time, drilling some safety wire holes in the head of the bolts and then safety wire those buggers?

You can reuse the current bolts. Gulf coast rovers sells ones with nylock inserts. I am not sure of the torque specs but I would put them on about as tight as you can get them with one hand and a 3/8th ratchet. Lots of people have had issues with them backing off on GBRs. On stockers it is not too bad but on series trucks it is like on the GBRs.

Wiring them would be a PITA. They are hardened and the holes would need to be small.

DON'T overtighten. I did this and snapped more than one. I'll get you the torque specs from my manual. If you don't hear from me via email by monday, get me on messenger and remind me.

You should get all this from GBR (Tom is good too). There is very little GBR can't help you with. The HD axles are thick, you will be happy.

Will the drive flange to hub bolts are 65Nm or 48lbf. Before reinstalling the bolts remove all signs of loctite from the thread. This will help prevent having to crank too hard on the bolts.

While you have the axles out, repack the bearings and consider replacing the seal. To do this easily you will need a 2-1/16" socket, although I'm sure some who are familiar with the process get by on channel locks or a pipe wrench.

And if necessary, be prepared to replace the brake pads while everthing is open.
