No, not a political statement! My 98 Disco 1, 80k miles, LHD, is overall 1 inch lower on the right than the left. Sounds like time for new OME's all around to me! Anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem might be.

Springs are gone.
It happens.

Bite the bullet and go to the EE website for some new ones.

No no no no! Your Disco is leaning becuase LR puts shorter springs on the passenger side of the vehicle. The OME springs, unless matched, will lean the same amount. I know this from experience with my old D1. If you dont mind the lean then dont hesitate to get the OME, but if you think it will sovle the lean then dont be mistaken--it wont. Your truck will simply lean the same about an inch and a half higher on both sides. If you are worried about the lean go to EE and get the matched set. Regardless of which way you go, you will love the ride after fitting your new system. The question is.....to lean or not to lean?

I have the OME DS/PS springs and have no lean at all.

Shane, do the DS/PS springs set the truck level with no one or load in it? Did you get them fom BritPac?

Go matched, you will not be sorry.

Here's another thread talking about this:

So, if i go to BritPac and order i'm getting exactly the same as expeditionexchange for a lot less, and all expeditionexchange does is switch the items around in the boxes so the DS and PS fronts are swapped over!

Sure Neil, go ahead and convince yourself of that.

Why would he think anything else Adam? They both sell the exact same product from OME. EE just matches them together. If you want matched springs I'm sure BP will do it for you if you call them and ask when you order.

Adam, :-) Just want to make sure if i ask BP to ship a set that does not cause the truck to lean when installed, i'll get what i want. Seems from other threads that they will. BP and EE have a strong following on this site, so i wonder why someone would pay $100+ more for the exact same items from EE!
I'm a Brit living in US, so i learned to be cautious of good deals, fast!

I guess you're right, you'll get the same product for a lot less. But here's the problem:

This statement is not true. Like I said, I am sure you will get the same product for less money, but one thing you are not accounting for are the intrinsic rewards of buying from EE (re: customer service). I'm not saying BP won't treat you like a winner, but I am saying that you won't get the same kind of follow-up service from them. If you don't understand that, I'm sorry, I'm not going to try and convince you any further.

and you're not getting switched around springs from ee. you are getting matched springs. so you get a ps/ps or a ds/ds - instead of a ps/ds or a ds/ps. how much time/miles you have on those springs Shane?

Adam, I haven't purchased anything from EE (yet) but I do understand from reading on here that they have great customer service. But I don't see the point in getting the springs/shocks from them because of it. What kind of follow up service do you need on the OME springs/shocks? Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard.

Ah, follow up service! Now I understand what that extra $100, excuse me!
I'm changing out shocks and springs, not doing a heart transplant :-) I ask for parts, i tell them what i want, they either convince me they understand my needs and i order, or i go elsewhere.
I apologise if i have offended anyone..
I rebuild Porsches and, believe me, the costs here are only 25% of what their parts would cost, however, i can go to my local dealer, order a $5 part, have it fedexed in from the national warehouse, pick up next morning, and stil pay only $5. Thats customer service.

Adam - I ordered all of my stuff from BP great bunch of guys. Very helpful and I've had no issues at all. Sorry but not everyone is part of the EE booster club. I'm a Brit living in the US too - I tend to make my own mind up about stuff. If I can save $200 on exactly the same stuff - guess where I'm going.

Intrinsic rewards - what a load of bollocks.

Robbie, I've had the springs on for about 3 months now. Guessing around 5000 miles.

Jeff, so eloquently put.
As it has often been said, never under estimate the british, WE DON'T!
Thats why the US gov pays hundreds of $ for a spanner ( sorry, wrench!) that you can buy at your local parts store for $5, its customer service!
Maybe we need an ex-pat thread on this site....!

You people are over reacting to Jeff's purchase decision. Don't you just think that maybe Jeff has different priorities....? Maybe like quality Scotch? If Jeff saved $200 then that's $200 that can go towards a nice bottle of Macellan 1983. Or better yet, Sir Jeffery can import some Green King IPA from the homeland.

:-)

Just let it go people.

:-( Now I'm feeling home (I mean beer sick) again. Ahhh haven't had a Greene King in so long. The pubs open back home now too.

Jeff,

Last May I stayed at "the bell" in Thetford. I think in the two weeks I was there, I drank a keg of that stuff. Boddingtons before noon and Green King for after noon.

Know it and the beer well, I was one of the founders ( over 30 years ago) of CAMRA - Campaign for Real Ale, which had as a goal to check out every pub in england and its ale's and clasify them. Back then i drove and rallied a Lotus Cortina, and others, and we had no speed limits..
now, i drive a Disco, Porsche 928 and a Rice Rocket ( aka Japanese car) .....
ah, well, old times.....
