OK, I am really stuck here, I went blokarting along the beach and by accident ended up in the water with my Disco keys in my pocket. My alarm remote got submeresed and when I got back to my 95 Disco it wouldn't unlock the doors or deactivate the alarm, the light on the remote blinked like normal, then it just stayed permanently lit and now it doesn't do anything, but regardless it won't deactivate the alarm. So now my truck is stuck and it won't let me start it. Of course it is Saturday and I am in Ocean City ,NJ and there is no dealer near by. Can anyone help, is there a way to bypass the alarm or do I have to replace the remote at a dealer, which is 100 miles away? I would greatly appreciate any help. -Jeoffrey |

all you need to do is unlock the door with your keys, that should deactivate the alarm. |

Unlocking the doors doesn't deactivate my alarm, I tried that and it did not work. Someone must know how I can get back on the road??? -Jeoffrey |

Jeoffrey, I just looked in my owners manual and it says for Disarming the alarm "The alarm system can be disarmed with either the handset or the key from the driver's door." Also, vice versa, if you hold your key in the "locked" position for five seconds or more, the alarm will not activate. Hope this works for ya man, and sorry to hear your ruined your remote. I picked one up on eBAY really cheap but then had to pay the dealer like 30 to program it. Later.. RS |

Sorry to hear about your problem. Try taking your remote apart, get some alcohol and a toothbrush and gently wash the circuit board inside the remote. You want to clean any saltwater residue off. Also, be sure to clean the battery real good. Dry it all off, put everything back together, stand near the truck, and press the remote button three times in a row. Hopefully, if your remote didn't fry, this shlould get her back in business. Good luck! David |

Two methods:- 1. If you know the 4 digit de-activating code of your door's lock, then use it [it came with your hand-book but can be obtained from any main dealer, provided you prove the vehicle is yours + engine number etc. It is not the radio code.]. Key is inserted into the lock, hold in locked position for 10 seconds, then positioned vertical. Following that the key is turned left or right according to your de-activating code, returning to the vertical after each turn. After forth digit, the door will unlock and the alarm is permanently deactivated until the hand-set is reused {method is in the hand-book ... suggest you spay WD40 into the door-lock to clean the electrical contacts] 2. Disconnect the car's battery for at least 1 minute. This often de-activated the engine alarm . If not de-activated it does stop the alarm and you can access the vehicle. |
