Hello all. I took my Disco 1 in for service and they put in Front and Rear Flange Kits (STC3432) and (STC3433) in my Transfer case. It this just seals or something more? Thanks, Mike B. |

Kyle: What was the reason for the Update? Do you know which vehicles it affected? Paul |

an updated kit for the transfer case? I know there is an updated kit for the rear diff flange. For those running a U-Joint driveshaft instead of the rotoflex, you had to use the square flange and a spacer. There is a "replacement" part number now that indicates a round flange (still 4-bolt for the uj's) and has a longer body that does not require the spacer in the rear pinion. anybody knowing the specifics of a tcase flange update, please post. /mike |

I dont know the specifics but I know that it exists. The earlier flanges were prone to backing off and that may be why.. Kyle |

The STC3432/3433 kits come with a new style seal, a new flange, nyloc nut, and felt washer. The first couple years of D1's did not have the new style flange, hence the update kit. Depending on what you have in there, some repairs call for just a seal (ftc4939) and others require the new kits. (3432 front) (3433 rear) fwiw.... Craig |

Thanks for the information! I sent the Disco to the dealershop for a leaking transfer case (under warranty). I got the new flange kits front and rear on the t-case. I also got 2 new motor mounts and one t-case mount. One motor mount failed due to metal fatigue and caused the gradual degeneration of the other mounts. I used to have play in the driveline and considered it normal. Now, after the new parts, I have no play in the driveline at all; no clunks, etc. The difference is amazing. I wonder how much play was removed by new flange kits. Thanks, Mike B. P.S. The dealership (Tampa Land Rover) did all of this work under warranty with no questions asked. In addition, they also replaced an exhaust manifold, the rear main oil seals, the power steering box, and a window regulator. My total bill out the door was $0.00. Is that cool or what? |
