I have a regular battery charger. Can I use it to charge my yellow top? Thanks.

Yes, just remove the battery from the car first, and make sure you have your radio code...

Speaking of batteries, is it OK to connect two batteries in parallel? Does it tax the altenator too much as the total resistance is half?

Thanks
Carl

Can you overcharge a yellow top?

The only way to connect two batteries in parallel is IF they are the same size, age, amperage. When sitting together connected, without the charging system working, the smaller, weaker battery will draw the stronger one down. Actually when you connect two batteries together they equalize immediately. A battery isolator is used to be able to charge each one as required with out connecting them together and drawing on one another. 18 wheelers and large boats sometimes have dual batts. set up, however they are installed and replaced in pairs. Make sure isolator rating is more than alt. amp output or it will be the weakest link and not carry the max charging amps put out by the charging system. In answer to taxing alternator; If one battery requires charging and on doesn't, the regulator would not be able to charge each battery at differant rates connected together. Hence the reasoning for a battery isolator to charge each as needed. Batteries in series double the voltage with same avail amperage with longer duration. (2 6V deep cycle last much longer than 1 12v deep cycle) Batteries in parallel double the available amperage while the voltage stays the same.
