As usual got a question about DAP... this time their under-bumper winch mount thing. $125 is the cheapest way I have ever seen to mount a winch. Has anyone used this or even know what it consists of/how it works? Being on a budget, seems like a super easy way to get a winch on there. The only draw-back is you can only use the Warn 8000, they say. Any thoughts?

I looked into that set up a few months ago. It's a very stealthy way to have a winch. It's a bracket that bolts to the frame. You can't use a brush bar with it.

A winch should be complimented with a Hi-Lift Jack in case you do not want to drag your DIF over rocks, cypress knees, etc . . .

Before you get the under-bumper mount, understand that you have nothing up front to support a Hi-Lift.

You might consider replacing your bumper with one that incorporates a winch. There are half a dozen types out there to choose from.

If there is ANY chance you might upgrade to a aftermarket bumper . . . save your money for the bumper/winch combo.

Oh . . . if you don't have a Hi-Lift yet, buy that before you get the winch. I wheeled for 10 years without a winch. My trusty Hi-Lift got me out of EVERY whole. I'm just too old to be yanking down on it now.

I've got the Hi-Lift. The absence of a jacking-point on the front w/ out the bumper is something that I had not thought of. Thank you. But, ARB non-air at $565 is the cheapest bumper set-up I've found. Would you guys agree with that? I appreciate the input, thanks.

Do you think there would be any problems mounting it with a Trek Outfitters front skid plate?

Where didi you find one for $565.00?
That's a good price.

I like the looks of the ARB bumper, but it gets in the way. It really cuts down on my approach angle. The only time I have ever been hung up to the point that I couldn't get myself out was because of the ARB. If I was stock, I probably would have made it. I just needed that little extra bit of room that the ARB took away.

It IS nice to know that I have all of that heavy metal up front, though, to protect things.

BW- I was wondering about the TO skid with the DAP winch mount.

-Ah... Im worried now that I posted incorrectly, but I believe $565 is the going Discount Rovers price for the non-air ARB.

Thanks again.
