34x10.50 is the size that i'm after i'm going to embark on this journey via the ome hd suspension that is already on and a 2" rovertym body lift that is soon to come w/o the body lift i have 32x11.50 swampers but 34's is what i want with leaving my disco's driveline and everything the same and just adding the lift can the disco hold up, i know power will be lost but will the tires be to big for the 4.0 w/stock gears to pull if so what do i need and how much am i looking at and will cutting it down to 34x9.50's be that much difference power and strain wise and what the heck do you think they will fit |

I wouldn't THINK about that size w/o regearing to 4.11, at least. Maybe more. Someone w/ experience w/ it will hopefully chime in, tho'.... -L |

blake, power or no power, you'll have a smile on your face with the 34s. seems like that has been your dream size tire for a while now. you should just get them and fit them under the truck. then deal with the consequences later. |

Blake, From one big tire fan to another (I have 33x12.5 swampers), I say just do it and deal with it (assuming there is some extra green in that pocketbook of yours for the unexpected). However, you will be going slow, and you will miss your engine braking. But, what the hell, necessity is a great thing to make you buy some gears. And while you are at it, you might as well put in lockers if you don't have them. Even with the body lift, you may hit your rear door if you have a CV shaft and the axle moved forward for that. It will be close with the stock shaft and trailing link setup. You will definately not know unless you try. 34x10.5 vs. 34x9.5 should be no difference in power drain. The circumference/diameter of the tire matters more than the width. The weight is pretty much the same. Tom |

KAM diffs makes a 4.2 R&P that would be just about right. It will give slightly more torque than the 4.1 . As far as fit is concerned, if your putting them on AR style wheels, you'll need to trim more, but you'll keep the same turning radius. factory wheels require less triming but you'll need to adjust your steering stops to prevent rubbing. I agree with Tom, get the tires first. Worry later. |

IMHO 1 - more tire width means more stress on axles and gears as more rubber is catching the rock/dirt= more breakage, especially with bigger meats. 2 - Your rotors will be glowing red and smoking cause you will have to stand on the brakes to stop it going downhill rather than letting the engine do the work. If its wet you have more chance of locking up and sliding all the way down. 3 - body lift means less wheel well cutting but still have driveline issues/ vibration. I would spend the body lift $$$ on a cv drive shaft or 2 or adjusted radius arms. 4- GCR rims have added offset to add stability but will thus require more cutting but with 34s you will be cutting one way or the other, body lift or not. Just do it!!!!! |
