I had the Transmission Oil Temperature lite illuminate a couple times today on the '94 Disco. The environmentals were warm but not excessively so, 75-85F. I wasn't towing anything and my speed was not considered excessive, 70-75MPH. The lite did extinquish if I slowed down about 8-15MPH so, no worries. Problem is that the lite illuminated in the first place. So what's happening here? This is the first time I've seen this lite in 89K miles and even had to look it up in the owners manual after I first saw it. If I have excessive temps how do I repair same or is there a good chance of an elderly sensor getting a little too sensitive? Just where is that sensor? BTW, I checked the cooling coil for obstruction and found none. |

Any idea where that sensor lives? I have a feeling that 8 years and 89K miles puts me out of the warranty picture. |

On a 95 disco, the sensor is in the transmission cooler hose/pipe that enters the radiator low on the driver's side (i.e., below the power steering reservoir). Look for something sticking up out of the hose with wires going to it. |

Got it. Thanks so much for the help. Methinks I'll change that out along with filter and fluid this weekend and hopefully, be good for another while. At least until the beast comes up with a new way to make me crazy. |
