Beck Arnley makes a replacement, check with NAPA, Kragen etc. for other aftermarkets $195-$365 from what I've found. I had my LR alt. rebuilt for about $100, works like a champ.

Beck Arnley makes a good replacement. NAPA, Kragen, etc. have others as well from $195-$365. I had my LR alt. rebuilt for about $100, and it runs like a champ now.

I would SERIOUSLY stay away from rebuilds. I was told the same thing, but didn't heed the warning, and ended up paying for it. Last summer, I ended up putting 4 alternators in it. The last one caught fire! (No damage to the truck, as it was noticed on time)
The first one was LR. The rest were all Bosch rebuilds.
When the right person at Bosch found out about all the trouble I was having, he sent me a brand-spanking-new Murelli (as well as a bunch of Bosch T shirts and hats and a check for $20.00)
I have had no problems with the murelli.
No modifications had to be made. Piece of cake to put in. Maybe a 10 min. job if you know what you are doing.

In Middle east they fitted a 120A Marelli to handle high AC usage and temps. Problem with these is the parts book says ' no parts available for servicing'.....??

I have put a few Premier Power Welder 160 AMP alternators on Discovery's. It requires a modification to the fan shroud, and some extra wiring but it costs approximately $450 for the a;ternator and bracket. I also have had a great deal of success with my local rebuilder.
I don't make a lot at $200 exchange. i have one on the company Disco with 6 lights, air compressor, winch etc.
