Are any of you using the David Bowyer "jackmates"? They are supposed to serve as recovery points and also work with the D90 Hi-Lift adapter. Any comments on their strength or usefulness? I'm trying to add some kind of decent front recovery points to a DII and it is a pain in the butt with the stock bumper. I won't be installing an after-market bumper at this time so that isn't an option for me.

Also, where online can you buy the D90 Hi-Lift adapter if I went down this path?

Thanks,
Rick

Just got these babies on, fit right to the frame. Sans a HD bumper, might be the best option. They fit the rear frame too.

Michael,
Where did you get those babies?
Thanks, Ryan

Michael, I considered a jate ring of some sort. The problem is they all seem to fit very snugly around the frame/crush cans. Yours look like they fit pretty tightly. With the stock bumper I still have the pipe/bar running behind the lower central part of the bumper and attached to the frame/crush cans. I don't think that I can get a Jate ring around this added metal without hacking something.

The David Bowyer equipment attaches from just one side so I think it might be a better option, if they are any good.

Do your Discos have a little trap door on the front bumper, sort of to one side of the number plate? If so there is a recovery point behind said door. We have used it to KERR snatch a seriously mirred Disco numerous times.

Dave, I didn't have a lot of faith in the stock recovery point originally and I have less faith in it ever since I bent it in half on a rock about 3 months ago. I must have just gotten it at the wrong angle because it folded like paper. That is what got me motivated to really start looking for some decent after-market recovery points.

DII owners, stay tuned because I have a local fabricator making me some deluxe front recovery points. I will post some pictures when finished. The fabricator said that he could make more if there is enough interest.

I purchased these from discount rovers (Nathan). THey're on the accessories or specials page.
