Started today..even after the truck (95 Disco) is off, electric fan (driver side) in front of radiator keeps running/spinning. tried starting engine on and off again but still on. Any ideas? May just pull fuse for now but dont want battery issues. Know some Audis did that but its never happened with this truck in the three years I have had it. Help!!! |

Should shut off after about 10 minutes, if the reason that it started was that your fuel temp was over 70 degrees C and the coolant over 110 degrees C (that's what is supposed to turn on the fan when the engine is off; when engine is on, coolant over 100 degrees C or turning on your air conditioning will turn on the fans). If it is not that hot, then one of the sensors could be bad, or something else in the circuitry. Likewise, if it doesn't shut off, look for circuit problems. Can't tell you why only one fan is on - don't know if the system tries one and then two. |

I am in florida and it was hot here >80degrees when I shut it off and the engine was running hot (top of bracket). It did finally shut off after 10 minutes or so. Thought I had fixed the oveerheating after replacing the fan clutch, but its still overheating at idle and occasionally on long trips (over 2 hours). Radiator is next then will think its the head gasket. Been super hot here in miami lately. |

I had the same problem after towing a heavy load on two occasions, the fan ran for about 10 mins after switching the engine off. After this time it switched off, I put it down to an automatic cooling of the coolant. |

Jorge: Have you replaced your thermostat yet? #1 cause and easy fix for overheating. Will keep our fingers crossed for you that it's neither of your fears. |

Same problem with my D1 last week. Replaced thermostat and haven't had a problem since. |
