I have a 95 Disco with the manual seats, and I was wondering what would be involved in replacing them with power seats from a 98? Thanks for any help you can offer,

Why? lol....

I'm sure it's possible, actually. But, the switches for the electric seats are prone to gum-up, and the manual seats can go back farther for those who have longer legs. Manual seats are one less thing for Lucas to strike, IMHO....

But.... I loved the seat heaters.... :)

You would need to locate the wiring harness, and plug the seat motors up to it. Also locate the switch's attachment, and install the switches on the sides of the center console.

Hmmm..... the shop manual may have some details in it regarding such... I'd suggest picking up a copy, if you don't have one, not just for the seats, but for everything else that will come up.

Good luck,

-L

Don´t bother! I have the electric front seats and the switches are crap and very expensive. I have dismantled them several times in order to clean them and they are full of small springs, balls and tiny contacts. I would love to get the manual seats instead. Just imagine the problem when I am going to use the car after my wife. She is 162 cm and I am 190 cm. There is no way I can fit behind the steering wheel if the switches deside to fail. Don`t ask me how I know...Peter

PLEASE don't switch to power seats! The manual seats are so much nicer! They don't break! They give you more legroom.

Actually, I dont care about having power seats, but I do want to replace my front seats because they are badly worn.

I have an opportunity to buy a set of seats out af a 98 that are perfect condition, but they are power. Is all of the necessary wiring and connections there in a 95 for a simple swap, or would I have to wire everything? Thanks,

Kyle

What about new covers?

Didn't someone have experience replacing the seat covers in the past, there is a kit for about $200 for the fronts, I thought.

I have considered this, as my drivers bottom cushion is also badly worn.

Does anyone know of a kit like this, where I could get it, how much, etc? Thanks,

Kyle

Yep, wetokole.com. Have a set on the back of the wife's vehicle for about 1.5 years. Even after wet, sandy, muddy, whatever else they seem to get into 4-paw drive Rovers getting in and out, the covers have held up and the leather underneath is perfect. Not hot either and they kinda stretch over the seat so no flapping in the wind.
Some very interesting colors/patterns too.

Lets turn this around. I have power seats. When they eventualy break, is it feasible to make them manual...
