well the cheap bastard in me came out this weekend. I'm planning some air bags and new shocks all the way arround on the disco ,but because I am without a shock right now this week I needed a fast fix to get me by till the brain can figure out the details of the air-bags in the coil set up. so I took 2 of the broken Bilsteins and did this
this is a grade 5 bolt it extends the shock 1 3/4" .25cents worth of welding rod and a .75cent bolt. the truck gained a little flex
and even under full flex into the bumpstops has a very small amount of shock travel left
i beat the living piss outa it around our test circuit includding catching big air at 40 mph off one of our jumps and it held up fine. so I guess I'll run it for awhile as I sort out the air assist suspension. |
