well the cheap bastard in me came out this weekend.

I'm planning some air bags and new shocks all the way arround on the disco ,but because I am without a shock right now this week I needed a fast fix to get me by till the brain can figure out the details of the air-bags in the coil set up.

so I took 2 of the broken Bilsteins and did this

fixstein

this is a grade 5 bolt it extends the shock 1 3/4"
.25cents worth of welding rod and a .75cent bolt.

I beat the frigging piss out of it on our little test circuit includding a jump that caught some big air at about 40 mph and still no break or bangs so I guess it will do for awhile

see I am a cheap bastard

Makes for an additional bump stop as well.

well thats what I expected figuring I'd just throw a bigger bumpstop in there to keep from bending the top mount, but oncew flexed up into the bump stop, it still has about a 3/4" of shock travel .

under a real slamming articulation I'm sure it would bottom the shock but thats better then topping it on every recoil and keep breaking the ends off.

when this truck becomes a trail truck most the stock stuff goes away anyhow so till then I'm sure this will work, I carried a huge load of stuff today aprox 1600lbs and the shocks worked fine with no topping as before.
