I saw John Lee's writeup on EE about extending your shocks with a coupler. Anyone know where he found the coupler?? I have gone to two hardware stores and have had no luck.

Pep Boys and Auto Zone sell 2 inch extensions for $6.99 with two differant thread sizes. don't know if they are Rover threads though.

Ho,

I found the coupler at the trusty Sears Hardware store, but they wouldn't fit the shock. Metric sizes not available. I am going to contact a nut and bolt distributer this week.

Hank, you are going to have a hard time finding the exact size coupler in anything close to a grade 8. I gave up and ended up rethreading the the shock end to fit a non-metric course thread coupler and bolt. Several months later it is still working.

I would not recommend extending the shocks if you have an aggresive driving style, as it adds a weak link to the shock. I am waiting till EE exhausts its research funds and finds us a firmer OME shock that suits the 2-3" lift and does not require modifying the shock mounts--the OME N25 fits and is longer, but sounds like it is valved too soft for most tastes.

Hank,

What springs do you have?

Thanks Moe,

Is the N25 valving close to the stock shocks?? If so, it may be the shock I'm looking for. I like the ride of the stock shocks but need the extra couple of inches until I get lockered!

John, you thinking that the softer-but-longer OME N25 would work well with HD OME springs?

OME N76.

Same valving as the OME N44s with approx. 3.5" more travel. (It does require switching to an eyelet lower mount, but that's not too much to ask, is it?) I actually think the truck rides smoother and less "squishy" compared to the stock Woodheads.

I got the shocks from John and Ho at EE and the shock mounts from John at Rovertym. FYI: If you do get these shocks, make sure you tell John at Rovertym that's the shock you're going to run. He needs to sleeve the shock mount bolt because Emu's bushing have a bigger hole than Rancho's.)

Hank - I would recommend the N76 or N25 shock for your needs. That extended shock is really a mickey mouse way of getting a longer shock.

Bill - I thought the N25 was too soft, but I prefer a firmer ride. There is a another fellow on this board who has the OME HD rear springs mated to the N25 rear shocks, and he thinks the combination is a good one. I can't reveal his name though or else I would have to kill you.

So, Ho likes the ride with the N25's? :)

P.S. Hey John Lee, piss off man - I'm armed with a doggie whistle and I'm not afraid to use it :)

If I were an angry bear, that doggie whistle would be perfect. But being that I'm human, I would just shoot you for causing that annoying noise in front of me.

perhaps I should rethink my arsenal then...

good thing because that "Insured by Doggie Whistle" bumper sticker just wasn't cutting it

Well John Lee , I am thinking that either way Bear or Human , its win win. If the Human or the bear has bad eye sight it will make it easier to lock on to his annoying ass.. :)

"If the Human or the bear has bad eye sight it will make it easier to lock on to his annoying ass.."

In all seriousness, I wonder if this ever happened with a rhinoceros? The rhino's eyesight is said to be so poor that if one is being charged by a rhino and there are no weapons handy, the best thing to do is to stand still and the rhinoceros will often run right past you. I have no idea if this is true. In such a case, I can imagine some guy blowing his heart out on a whistle to scare away the rhino, only to find himself getting in even worse trouble.
