That about says it. Atlantic British says you need the THule super high towers. Yakima only has one size extension at 3.5". That gives a bit more height than the standard Thule's with their 3" extension (plus the extra .5 - 1" that the Yakima starts with) but the long Tule's add 8" total I think. I have lots of Yakima stuff and dont want to convert everything so I'd like to just run the Yakimas with the 3" extensions. Will it work. Is it the factory load bars that limit or the sunroof. Thanks in Advance Todd |

Hi Todd: You can use the Yakima Super High rise mounts. I used them on my 1995 Landrover Discovery. The mounts do sit a little closer to roof than the Thule but it is the correct Yakima Application. I believe the mounts cost about 120.00. Your local Yakima dealer should be able to get these mounts as they are pretty common. Jerry |

I use Thule super high. The Yakima's i originally tried to install sucked - they would barely clear the truck and rested on the side of the roof right above the rain gutters. Thule doesn't touch at all. |

If you have the stock luggage rails the Yakima lowrider towers will attach to these. The Yakima guide says that 66" bars shoud be used, but 48" bars will just fit and they look stock, because the ends of the bars do not stick out. I could take a picture of mine if you would like to see them. |

Actually what I want is RainGutter towers because I will be running the 66" bars so I can fit a Canoe up there with a bike or somethign if I need to. I want SPACE. So these Yakima Super High Rise Mounts....are they higher than the standard 3.5" extensions to the regular 1A raingutter mounts? Thanks Todd |

Todd - I bought the Yakami SHRM and am disappointed, should have gone Thule. They arent tall enough. You can only run them up front, in the back, they hit the roof, or will with a very minor load. I was stuck with them, so I have them real close to each other up front, but will replace them when I can. |

I have a ton of Yakima stuff for bikes, kayaks and canoes. I have had Yakima on my last 4 vehicles for the last 15 years. The Yakima towers are horrible on a DII. You have to use the Thule. The good news is that almost all of my attachments have, or I purchased square bar adapters so my Yakima bike, canoe and kayak stuff still works on the Thule bars. I bought a used Rover rocking gate for the bikes, which is much easier than the roof. |
