I am replacing my brake rotors this weekend and while I am at it I am planning on doing the hub seals and bearings. Does anyone know of a part number cross reference for these from the local parts store (Napa, AZ, Pepboys, etc) for a D1? Big duh! when I forgot to order them with the rotors.

Thanks!

Don, The wheel bearings for your D1 are Timkin Bearing Set #37. This set is a matched race and bearing cage. This number is for both inner and outer bearing sets. You will need 8 sets. I paid about $12 for each set two years ago. I can not help you with the seals, but I suggest that you have someone local look it up by application.

Better yet, pull a seal and see if they can cross the part numbers listed there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I just ordered rear inner and outer seals for my disco. i have a cracked seal and it's creating a mess. How hard is it to replace the seals? I've heard the only real hard part is having to repack the bearings. Any comments?

I was at Autozone and Napa yesterday after posting this. No luck on the cross ref. for the seals but the bearings were not a problem. Looks like a dealership trip. Oh well I need to get the dashboard warp fix there anyways. I just dont trust them working on it.
Cooper - replacing the bearings and seals are pretty straight forward. Just be prepared for the hub nut and it should not be a problem. I believe there is a write up on this on the spanish trails web site. (anyone have a link?) Mine are not leaking as of yet but since I am replacing the rotors it seems like a good idea to get them done. (esp since I am doing a trip from Tx to Va here in 3 weeks.)
Thanks again.
