Hi All,
I am a new 1995 discovery owner although I have had a 1967 NADA dormobile for 8 years now. The discovery is having some engine problems that I would appreciate any advice on as it is a bit more complicated than the S11A.

Sometimes it will hesitate and stall and restart while in the 1000-2000rpm range and you have to give it good pedal to keep it going. It will usually rev up after a bit but the truck will lurch as the rpms jump up and down. When it does go and pick up speed I get a strong smell of gas. It just did this as I was driving down my driveway where it stalled when I came to a stop. I left the key turned on and jumped out and lifted the hood. It sounded like the injectors were still running and delivering feul with the engine off. I turned the key off as soon as I realized what was happening.

I tried to start it once but it did not sound right so I am letting it sit as I think it is flooded now.

Also, a few times per tank of gas it stalls when it comes to a stop will but will usually restart but will stall imediately afterwards. If I give it gas when it starts it will usually go and I can keep it running if I keep the RPM up. Sometimes I have to let it sit for a min or so and then it will run fine.

I am not sure if these 2 problems are related or not. I did pull the idle control valve and it did not seem dirty and I have changed the feul filter.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Erik

Very similar thing was happening to us. Stall at 1800 rpm under load and bad idle. Disco specialist diagnosed a faulty Air Flow Meter - replaced with recon unit for $700AUS ( under dealer 3mth warranty ) and problem solved.
